Hawaiian Birthday Party Decoration Ideas

Plan a tropical Hawaiian-themed birthday party to consider advantage of hot summer weather in order to remind everyone of warmer days throughout the cold winter months. Homemade Leis

You can cut flower shapes from colorful construction paper to create a simple layer or trim the perimeters of brightly colored cupcake liners to resemble flowers. Thread a yarn needle with yarn or twine and gently pierce the middle of each flower with the needle to string them to the yarn. If you would like to separate the person flowers in your lei, pierce several paper flowers of the same color after which string a 1-inch length of drinking straw to the lei before adding the next flower. When you're satisfied with your paper lei, tie the ends from the yarn into a knot. Makes it large enough to fit easily too deep.

Hawaiian Serving Bowls
Serve fruit salad or frozen treats at your Hawaiian birthday party inside a real pineapple bowl. Stand the pineapple upright and cut away one-third from the pineapple vertically to create your bowl. Scoop the fruit from inside the pineapple bowl and discard it or save it for any fresh fruit salad or other purpose. You may want to cut the fruit loose having a knife to remove it. In case your pineapple bowl is wobbly, cut a skinny strip from the bottom from the bowl to create a flat base.

Grass Table Skirts
Decorate the tables at the birthday party with homemade grass skirts to provide them a tropical appearance. Cut solid-color wrapping paper into strips of sufficient length to reach from the edge of the table almost down. Tape each strip towards the edge of the table with clear tape before you are satisfied with the fullness of the grass table skirt. Cover the top strips with an additional strip of paper all around the edge of the table to finish the skirt. You should use basic brown paper or create colorful skirts to fit your other decorations.

Tropical Cake
Bake an exotic cake for your Hawaiian-themed birthday party. Any flavor or size cake can easily become a tropical cake by gently pressing crushed vanilla wafers or graham cracker crumbs in to the icing to represent sand. Give a blue lagoon to the top of the cake with blue gel icing and populate the wedding cake with gummy sharks, fish or other creatures you may see in Hawaii.
